I just noticed that Slice of Laodicea:  is on the rampage again wiith their/his particular perspective on Christianity, recently he has attacked Christians doing yoga, Rob Bell, Willow Creek, and now all things emergenct in a critique of Anne Lamott for endorsing a  book my Mary Willaimson. He included a link in his post to this blog as evidence. His issue Anne Lamott,

This enthusiastic bunch bash and trash anything and everything that doesn’t fit their very narrow view of "church". Tehy don’t look at context or even try to see beyond anything that doesn’t meet withtheir approval. One good thing is everyone one is fair game for their attacks. They are equal opportunity attackers. Seem their slice of Laodicea could use a good dose of grace.

Undecided I just don’t get it. If you do let me know, clue me in.

I don’t get it either.  At least slice of life gives you a place to comment.  Their sister or brother site apprising.org does not.  you can’t even say…WHAT are you TALKING about?

Its probably wrong and juvinile and a waste of my time but I was in a punchy mood and made a parody site of SoL.  My site is http://www.sliceolaodicea.com Its probably a little crude but all in good fun. If you have a second and are at all interested, take a look. If not, please forgive my shameless blog promotion and we can add to the list of stuff I shouldn’t have done.  Grace and Peace

  4. No, sir. You can’t stand the fact that they have something that you don’t: discernment. If you want to accuse them of being judgmental, then you need to understand that you are judging them under an entirely wrong pretext. You are endorsing people who do not know how to rightly divide the Word of Truth (2 Tim. 2:15). In fact, I question if you know how to either. It pains me to see what the Emerging Church has done to evangelicalism. Then again, from what I’ve seen, evangelicalism in all its spinelessness is imploding upon itself before our very eyes.

    Jason,

Sorry you feel that way. I can stand pretty much anything because of my relationship with Jesus. What disturbs me those of us followers of Jesus who create division and pass judgment on other Christ followers despite the fact that Jesus cautions us against doing that. I have pointed that out in the emerging Church and elsewhere in the church.

The only thing I see that is imploding is the evangelicalism’s (as you call it) ability to effectively do the mission that Jesus gave to the church. Which by the way did not include passing judgment but rather pointing people to the grace and love of God in Jesus Christ and showing them how to follow God’s way. But everyone is entitled to their  opinion.

the problem with post modern and emergent and anything else describing themselves as new or revealed is that it intrinsically fails to  express God’s Holy Word.  nothing is new under the sun according to solomon and i agree.  people have sinned the same from the beginning and we still are.  God is the same: past, present and future.  so, how can we suddenly be more, or new, or modern?  by our own foolish thinking.  i say the Bible has to be believed.  it says Christ is coming again, this time to judge.  the Grace of Jesus is now.  eternal separation from our creator is hell.  how can you accept, as a believer of the Bible, that any of our ways are good?  how can you keep turning a blind eye to the apostate church the is doomed under God’s revelation?  so, keep calling discernment as unrighteous judge, you are going to be eternally separated and it’s not like you weren’t warned!!!

Hmmmm….when I had a few hard questions for my pastor – he were not really prepared to take a definate stand for anything! He ended by saying to me : Be careful not to love the Word of God more than the God of the Word…. since when did they become seperate?? Jesus is the Word and Jesus is God. It is better to be devided in truth than be together in error. Stop arguing and go back to the WORD…

By what authority do we get to ‘decide’ on things that God has all ready decided on??

Rob Bell is WRONG – there is a hell…Willow Creek is wrong – …Rick Warren also wrong! The gospel needs no modification!!
